ST. GEORGE — One lucky Lexus driver received only minor injuries after striking the trailer of a semi-truck, rolling the vehicle in the median of Interstate 15 and landing their wheels.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden said the incident occurred at 3:12 p.m. on Wednesday on I-15 near mile marker 91, four miles south of the Panguitch/Kanab exit. A vehicle traveling southbound ran into the left corner of a 53-foot trailer being towed at freeway speeds.

“The driver of a gold Lexus ran into the trailer then rolled in the median,” Roden said. “The vehicle came to rest on its wheels and the driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.”

The female driver told troopers a combination of weariness and the sun obstructing her view were factors.

No injuries were reported by the semi-truck driver, although the trailer did sustain damages.

Roden said prior to that incident, Washington County residents experienced snarled traffic at the I-15 northbound on-ramp at Exit 10.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. the driver of a Toyota Sienna minivan came to an abrupt stop on the on-ramp. The GMC Sierra truck behind it ran into the back of the minivan.

“No injuries were reported from either vehicle,” he said.
