ST. GEORGE — A man rolled his vehicle over a hillside north of Dixie Rock, historically known as Sugarloaf, on Thursday evening. The incident required a heavy rescue truck to retrieve the vehicle.

Shortly after 6 p.m., a Ford Explorer was traveling south, towing an oversized load, when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near 1300 North Red Hills Parkway, St. George Police Officer William De Hart told St. George News. The vehicle left the roadway, rolling over a paved trail, down a hillside and through a fence, where it came to rest in the brush.

The police don’t expect that the incident was caused by impairment. Still, the driver, a man in his 20s, was given a citation for undisclosed reasons. De Hart said he was transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation in a personal vehicle.

SG3 Towing & Recovery used a heavy rescue truck to pull the wrecked Ford up the hill so it could be towed from the scene. When the vehicle rolled, debris, including gravel, was scattered across part of the roadway, which was cleared by St. George City employees using a sweeper, as well as crews from the St. George Fire Department and SG3.
