CEDAR CITY – Cedar City Police are investigating whether road rage was a factor in a rear-end collision involving two pickup trucks Monday afternoon.

Reported shortly before 1 p.m., the incident occurred near 2800 West on state Route 56 and involved a blue Ford F-150 and a silver Dodge Ram 3500, each with an adult male driver. Cedar City Police Sgt. Justin Ludlow said both vehicles were heading eastbound when the Ford crashed into the rear end of the Dodge.

The man driving the Dodge complained of neck injuries and was subsequently transported to Cedar City Hospital, Luldlow said. The Ford driver, meanwhile, was not injured.

After taking statements from both drivers and eyewitnesses, police are still trying to determine what led to the crash, Ludlow said.

“Officers are investigating if there was a prior driving pattern, to see if there was some level of road rage,” Ludlow told Cedar City News. “We are waiting on video from businesses nearby.”

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were later towed from the scene.

In addition to multiple Cedar City Police officers, an Iron County Sheriff’s deputy also responded, as did a Gold Cross Ambulance crew and two Cedar City Fire Department firefighters.

This report is based on preliminary statements from first responders and law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
